How Dextape reviews a hardware wallet
A score without a method is marketing. This is the rubric. We will not publish a numeric verdict on a device we have not put through it.
Dextape’s Reviews desk does not currently publish a scored verdict on a named device in this edition. What follows is the method we use when we do. If a later review carries a number, it will point here.
The rubric
- Address verification: can a user confirm a receive and a spend on-device without trusting a browser?
- Backup: is recovery possible without a vendor account, a mobile-only flow, or a command-line extra?
- Phishing surface: how many official domains, apps, and email senders must a user trust?
- Platform limits: what cannot be signed from iOS, Android, or a clean desktop?
- Disclosure quality: when something breaks, is the first public note specific about scope?
What a vendor-email incident changes
A compromised email provider is a test of the phishing-surface line, not automatically of the secure element. Dextape will cover those incidents on the wire with attribution. We will not silently revise a score because a headline was loud. Revisions are dated on this page.
