How the Dextape wire works

The wire collects public publisher feeds and preserves the publisher, timestamp and original URL. Automated collection helps you discover coverage; it does not independently verify every claim in a story.

Preview, then the original

• Each wire story is a preview: the headline, the publisher's own summary (at most 60 words) and a link to the full story on the publisher's site.
• The full story, its corrections and its updates live with the publisher. A preview is not independent reporting or verification by Dextape.
• Check both the publication time and the time of the underlying event. A newly published article can describe older news.

For a material claim, find the evidence behind it: a filing, official announcement, transaction or named source. Compare what that evidence establishes with the headline. Revisit the original publisher for updates and corrections.
